Staying focused this time of year can take some major dedication…

Starbucks has all those decadent treats. Even our trusty Trader Joes & Whole Foods can’t claim complete innocence this time of year…

Proud of my healthy produce filled basket, I couldn’t help notice the countless end-of-isle goodie displays at both Whole Foods and TJ’s! That’s low guys, I felt drawn to the pretty packaging like a moth to a lightbulb, which promised “wholesome” sweet goodness.

But where they really get you (if they haven’t suckered you already) is while standing in the checkout line. All of those Organic-No GMO chocolate dipped cookie treats or the peppermint cacao bites staring me in the face. It’s always easier to convince ourselves that these treats can’t be thaaaaat bad…if they are selling ’em at Whole Foods, right?

Unfortunately sugar is sugar, even if it’s wrapped in ascetically pleasing 100% recycled soy-free packaging. I am pretty picky about what I choose to indulge in and I make it worth it! It’s the little treats here and there in combination with moving around less,  that contribute to those wider winter waistline!

I DO want you to treat yourself, but be choosy! I don’t want you to be obsessive! Remember, it’s okay to leave yourself with a little wiggle room for your favorite foods and treats! Just make the majority of your bites lean, clean, and green and you’ll be golden!
